Philadelphia, Pa. – (6/29/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University sophomore
Tyson Scheitrum (Harrisburg, Pa.) was one of 10 local collegiate student-athletes named to the
2025-2026 Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) Men's Track and Field Academic All-Area Team (.PDF). Rowan University sophomore Noah Wampole (Radnor, Pa.) was selected by the sports information directors for 30 Philadelphia-Area institutions as the 2025-2026 Philly-SIDA Men's Track and Field Performer of the Year.
Wampole and Scheitrum were joined on the 2025-2026 Philly-SIDA Men's Track and Field Academic All-Area team by University of Pennsylvania senior Kampton Kam (Singapore), Eastern University senior Ryle Mellinger (Glen Mills, Pa.), Jefferson University senior Mason Moore (Lancaster, Pa.), Saint Joseph's University senior Luke Noss (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), Ursinus College senior Aiden Tobin (Coopersburg, Pa.), and a trio of student-athletes from Haverford College; sophomore Thomas Fendig (Chevy Chase, Md.), as well as juniors Owen Bluman (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Luke De Valpine (Berkeley, Calif.).
The 2025 AEC Men's Field Athlete of the Year, Scheitrum (1
st, 38.60, 10 points) combined with sophomore
Dasmen Williams (Chester, Pa.) (2
nd, 37.30, 8 points) to earn Gwynedd Mercy University 18 points in the Discus at the 2026 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's Track and Field Championships; they respectively garnered All-AEC First and Second Team honors for the event. Scheitrum also garnered an All-AEC Second Team laurel with a second-place finish (2
nd, 43.95, 8 points) in the Hammer. He finished the meet with 22 of the Griffins' 59 championship points as he also scored four points with a fourth-place finish (4
th, 11.55, 4 points) in the Shot Put.
Earlier in the spring, Scheitrum continued his assault on the Red and Gold's all-time throwing lists as he posted a University record in the Hammer (2
nd, 44.01) at Rowan University's Oscar Moore Invitational (Apr. 11) and the Discus twice; first at West Chester University's Purple and Gold Opener (5
th, 39.89 on Mar. 20-21) and again at Widener University's Danny Curran Invitational (9
th, 41.30 on Mar. 27-28). His throws earned Honor Roll recognition on each AEC Men's Track and Field Weekly Report (Mar. 31, Apr. 13, Apr. 21, Apr. 27) this season.
Academically, the computer information science major was recently recognized on the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-District Team. He is a three-time member of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite (Fall 2024, Spring 2025, Spring 2026) and he was recognized on the 2024-2025 AEC All-Academic Team.
