Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (6/23/2026) – The Gwynedd Mercy University track and field season concluded with a fourth-place finish (4
th of 6, 59 points) at the 2026 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships. There, Gwynedd Mercy University freshman
Conner Brennan (Hatboro, Pa.), sophomores
Dasmen Williams (Chester, Pa.) and
Tyson Scheitrum (Harrisburg, Pa.), and junior
Jamar Gauda (Delran, N.J.) garnered all-league honors with their respective finishes.
A two-time All-AEC Second Team recipient, Brennan was responsible for 16 of Gwynedd Mercy University's points in the distance races as he placed second in both the 5,000-Meter (2
nd, 16.18.99, 8 points) and the 10,000-Meter (2
nd, 33:48.84, 8 points). He also teamed with sophomore
Jamar Gauda (Delran, N.J.), as well as juniors
Christian Lynn (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Mel Velasquez (Philadelphia, Pa.) for a sixth-place finish (6
th, 4:14.20, 1 point) in the 4x400-Meter Relay.
Gauda earned his All-AEC Second Team honors in the Triple Jump, where he earned eight points for the Red and Gold with a second-place performance (2
nd, 12.75, 8 points). He also finished in the 400-Meter (4
th, 52.32, 4 points) and Long Jump (8
th, 6.23).
Scheitrum (1
st, 38.60, 10 points) and Williams (2
nd, 37.30, 8 points) combined to earned Gwynedd Mercy University 18 points in the Discus; they respectively garnered All-AEC First and Second Team honors for the event. Scheitrum also garnered an All-AEC Second Team laurel with a second-place finish (2
nd, 43.95, 8 points) in the Hammer. He finished the meet with 22 points as he scored four points with a fourth-place finish (4
th, 11.55, 4 points) in the Shot Put.
Earlier in the spring, Scheitrum continued is assault on the Red and Gold's all-time throwing lists as he posted a University record in the Hammer (2
nd, 44.01) at Rowan University's Oscar Moore Invitational (Apr. 11) and the Discus twice; first at West Chester University's Purple and Gold Opener (5
th, 39.89 on Mar. 20-21) and again at Widener University's Danny Curran Invitational (9
th, 41.30 on Mar. 27-28). His throws earned Honor Roll recognition on each AEC Men's Track and Field Weekly Report (Mar. 31, Apr. 13, Apr. 21, Apr. 27) this season.
In addition to Scheitrum's AEC Men's Track and Field Weekly Honor Roll recognition, Brennan (Apr. 13, Apr. 21) and Velasquez (Apr. 27) also made appearances on the league report. Brennan paced the Griffins in the 5,000 and 10,000-Meters with his respective personal bests in those events coming at the Danny Curran Invitational (70
th, 15:55.59 on Mar. 27-28) and Shippensburg University's Paul Kaiser Classic (4
th, 33:45.84 on Apr. 24-25). He also set a University in the 3,000-Meter with his 2
nd-place time of 9:56.15 at the Oscar Moore Invitational (Apr. 11). Meanwhile, Velasquez earned the Red and Gold six points toward their seventh-place finish (7
th of 10, 23 total points) at Elizabethtown College's Blue Jay Tune-Up (Apr. 24-25) with his third-place 400-Meter Hurdles (4
th, 1:08.62, 6 points).
