Guardino Saves A Career-High 20 to Keep Griffins Close to Saints in AEC Finale

Arlington, Va. - (4/22/2026) - Gwynedd Mercy University (7-6, 2-2) concluded their 2026 regular and Atlantic East Conference (AEC) season schedules with this evening's 10-5 loss at Marymount University (7-7, 4-0). The Griffin offense kept pace with the Saints in shots as the home team held just a five-shot advantage (45-40). Meanwhile, sophomore goalkeeper Alexander Guardino (Lumberton, N.J.) was superb between the pipes with a career-high 20 saves and two ground balls in the loss (7-6). Freshman midfielder Cooper Lachowicz (Toms River, N.J.) scored on both his shots (6:31, 4:32; 3QTR), while senior midfielder Josh Devine (Pottstown, Pa.) recorded a team-high three points (1 goal, 2 assists).

Griffin Highlights
  • After an opening Marymount University goal, 1-0 (14:01), Gwynedd Mercy University took a 2-1 (7:30; 1QTR) advantage when sophomore midfielder Landen Ciran (Ephrata, Pa.) scored on a man-up opportunity thanks to a nice set-up from senior attack Nick Citrigno (Southampton, Pa.).
  • Lachowicz scored both of the Griffins third-quarter goals; Devine found him at 6:31 (6-3) and again on a man-up at 4:32 (8-4).
  • Sophomore attack/midfielder Ethan Galvan (Brick, N.J.) scored the first Griffin goal of the contest unassisted with 11:45 (1-1) remaining in the period.
  • In front of Guardino, the Red and Gold defense was headlined by identical, four ground balls and one caused turnover performances from junior Joe Oriold (Southampton, Pa.) and freshman Caleb Gaines (Brookhaven, Pa.).
