Rylie O'Toole (Southampton, Pa.). ). She earned her second win (2-3) of the season by holding Centenary University (N.J.) (3-13, 1-1) to an unearned run on two hits. Meanwhile, a fourth-inning sacrifice fly from junior designated player
Jess Kepner (Pipersville, Pa.) (1-0) and four fifth-inning runs provided the offense needed for a 5-1 victory. Junior first baseman
Kassidy Kehoe (Lansdale, Pa.) (3-for-7) and junior third baseman
Hannah Cohen (North Wales, Pa.) (3-for-6) both recorded multiple hits in the opener, and they were also two of five Griffins to record a hit in game two.
Griffin Highlights - Game One
- Gwynedd Mercy University cut the Centenary University (N.J.) lead in half with a run in the top of the third inning; 2-1. The at-bat began with a Kehoe single, and continued with a sacrifice bunt from freshman second baseman Macey Harrold (West Deptford, N.J.) and a ground out from senior shortstop Hannah Smith (Levittown, Pa.). Kehoe eventually scored on Cohen's single.
- Kehoe put things in motion again in the fifth inning with a double to left field. She moved to third base on a wild pitch and hustled home on a Harrold ground out to third base; 5-2.
- The Red and Gold's theme continued in the seventh inning, where Kehoe drew a walk before circling the bag with a pair of ground outs and a Cohen single; 7-3.
- In the end, Kehoe was 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored. Smith (2-for-4) and Cohen (2-for-4) were the only other Griffins with multiple hits.
Griffin Highlights - Game Two
- Freshman center fielder Nya Brown (Whitehall, Pa.) led off the third inning with a singled and she hustled to third base on a sacrifice bunt from freshman left fielder Sierra Miller (Telford, Pa.), but was stranded there after back-to-back ground outs.
- In the fourth inning, Gwynedd Mercy University capitalized on a lead-off single from Harrold. Smith sacrificed her to second base and a Cohen single moved her to third for Kepner's sacrifice fly; 1-1.
- Miller led off the fifth inning with a walk and Kehoe doubled her in with one out; 2-1. Later in the inning, a Smith sacrifice fly brought home Kehoe (3-1), a double steal (4-1), and a Kepner double (5-1) distanced the Griffins for the four-run win.
- Kehoe (1-for-4), Harrold (1-for-4), Cohen (1-for-2), Kepner (1-for-2), and Brown (1-for-3) were responsible for the five Red and Gold hits.
- O'Toole was tough; she only struck out one, but she worked the zone as she only allowed three base runners over the seven frames.
