Schuylkill Haven, Pa. - (3/31/2026) - Gwynedd Mercy University (7-12) continued their tour of the local Penn State satellite campuses as they visited Schuylkill for today's doubleheader. The top of the lineup - junior first baseman
Kassidy Kehoe (Lansdale, Pa.) (3-for-5) and freshman second baseman
Macey Harrold (West Deptford, N.J.) (2-for-4, BB) - set the table and junior catcher
Maya Hellyer (Quakertown, Pa.) (3RBI) and several others as the Griffins defeated the Nittany Lions by an 11-8 measure in the opener. In game two, the Red and Gold rally fell just shy of its target in a 9-8 conclusion. Kehoe (3-for-4, BB, 3R, 3RBI) and senior shortstop
Hannah Smith (Levittown, Pa.) (3-for-4, BB, R, 2RBI) helped turn the lineup over with three hits apiece.
Griffin Highlights - Game One
- Kehoe singled and Harrold walked to start the afternoon; the former moved to third on a wild pitch and the latter stole second before Hellyer connected for a two-out single to centerfield; 2-0.
- In the second, singles from Kehoe and Harrold got the Griffin going again. This time a Smith single (3-2), a Hellyer sacrifice fly (4-2), and a single from freshman center fielder Nya Brown (Whitehall, Pa.) (5-2) did the damage.
- Down 8-5 in the fifth inning, Gwynedd Mercy University used a Brown double, a single from junior designated player Jess Kepner (Pipersville, Pa.), and a walk to freshman left fielder Giavanna Kanaris (New Eygpt, N.J.) to load the bases. A fielder's choice from freshman right fielder Gianna Trerotola (Blue Bell, Pa.) (8-6), a Kehoe single (8-7), a Harrold double (9-8), a Smith ground-out (10-8), and double from junior third baseman Hannah Cohen (North Wales, Pa.) gave the Griffins the 11-8 advantage.
- Kehoe was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a run-batted-in (RBI). Harrold was 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored, and two RBI. Brown was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI. Hellyer totaled three RBI on a 1-for-4 performance at the plate.
Griffin Highlights - Game Two
- Gwynedd Mercy University trailed 6-3 after two offensive innings. Pecked away at the Nittany Lion lead with a two-out RBI single from Smith in the fourth inning (6-4) and a one-out double from Brown in the fifth (6-5), and took the lead with a two-out, two-run single from freshman center fielder Sierra Miller (Telford, Pa.) in the sixth inning; 7-6.
- The Red and Gold still needed another rally in the seventh. There, Kepner led off with a single and Kehoe drew a two-out walked, but a Harrold singled through the box only brought home one before the Nittany Lions recorded the final out.
- Kehoe was 3-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored, and a RBI. Smith was 3-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBI. Harrold (1-for-2) and Miller (1-for-2, 2BB) both had a hit and knocked in two runs apiece.
