Gunnar Seaman (Wocester, Pa.) (3 goals, 1 assist) and
Nick Citrigno (Southampton, Pa.) (2, 2) totaled four points apiece, while junior defenseman
Joe Oriold (Southampton, Pa.) (6 ground balls, 3 caused turnovers) and freshman defenseman
Caleb Gaines (Brookhaven, Pa.) (4, 2) made sure the Warriors had their difficulties. In goal, sophomore
Alexander Guardino (Lumberton, N.J.) earned the win (2-2) with eight saves and a ground ball.
Griffin Highlights
- Gwynedd Mercy University was the only team to score in the first half as Citrigno goals (12:48, 0:17) bookended Seaman goals (3:46, 2:27) in the first quarter and sophomore midfielder Landen Ciran (Ephrata, Pa.) scored two (8:12, 7:31) of his three goals in the second quarter before sophomore attack David Crespo (Furlong, Pa.) netted a tally in the final minute; 7-0 (0:53).
- In the second half, a 1-1 third quarter was followed by fourth-quarter scores from Seaman (9-1, 11:56) and freshman midfielder Jack Cowan (Galloway, N.J.); 10-1 (0:58). The latter was the first of a collegiate career.
- Gwynedd Mercy University was successful on 21-of-24 (.875) clear attempts and out-shot Lycoming College 50-23.Â
- Seaman added three ground balls and a caused turnover to his points. He also took a team-high 15 shots.
- Citrigno complemented his points with a ground ball and a caused turnover.
- Crespo (1 goal, 2 assists) and Ciran (3) finished with three points apiece. Crespo also recorded a ground ball and a caused turnover, while Ciran additionally recovered three ground balls.
- Oriold added a face-off win (1-of-1, 1.000) to his defensive stats. The rest of the Griffins' face-off were manned by senior Jake Tedeschi (Goshen, N.Y.) (6-of-9, ,667) and sophomore Edson Robles (3-of-4, .750).
- Overall, the Griffins were 10-of-14 (.714) on face-offs and they recovered 36 ground balls.
