Branden Soubik is pleased to welcome
Bryan Pearson to staff, "I am so happy to welcome Coach Pearson to our coaching staff for our indoor and outdoor seasons. Not only does he have great knowledge when it comes to throwing events, but he is also a resource in strength training." Coach Soubik explained, "This has become an emphasis for the future of our program. Having someone as accomplished as Coach Pearson on staff will certainly make it easier recruitment of top-level field student-athletes." Coach Pearson most recently served as the field coach for New Hope-Solebury High School (2021-2024) and an assistant coach at his alma mater, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II member, Shippensburg University (2018-2020).
"I'm very excited for my first year at GMercyU," opened Coach Pearson. He continued, "We have student-athletes who have proven it at the collegiate level and some first-year prospects who demonstrated a high-level technical proficiency at the high school level and a willingness to learn more. I am looking forward to working with this throwing group and establishing us as a keystone in the conference." At Shippensburg University and New Hope-Solebury High School, Coach Pearson helped the Raiders and Lions improve their throws in shot put, discus, hammer, and javelin with techniques and feedback designed to enhance conditioning, strength, and performance. At New Hope-Solebury, Coach Pearson put a young Suburban One program back the path to high-level competition. During his time as a graduate assistant with his alma mater, Shippensburg University, Coach Pearson worked closely with an experienced throwing team that celebrated Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) individual championships for Cam Strohe '20 in the Hammer (1
st, 57.17, Outdoor 2019) and Weight (1
st, 18.60, Indoor 2020).
Pearson was a four-time NCAA Division II All-American at Shippensburg University with Discus performances in 2016 (6
th, 52.92), 2017 (10
th, 52.14), and 2018 (5
th, 54.48) and a Shot Put in 2017 (17
th, 15.54). He was a two-time United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Men's Field Athlete of the Year (2016, 2017) and holds seven Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships; Discus (2016; 51.20, 2017; 53.33, 2018; 52.39), Shot Put (2016; 16.85, 2017; 17.19), Hammer (2018; 54.04), and Weight Throw (2018; 17.79).
Pearson graduated Magna Cum Laude from Shippensburg University with a 3.8 grade point average (GPA) and was a member of the Gamma Theta Upsilon International Geographical Honors Society before earning his geoenvironmental studies bachelor's in 2018 and master's in 2020. He currently resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
