Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (7/10/2025) - With the departure of Heather Charlton from the Gwynedd Mercy University athletic training staff, Director of Athletics
Keith Mondillo has named
Kevin Bernabe the University's head athletic trainer. "In the his short time on staff, Kevin has demonstrated that he has the knowledge, temperance, and communications skills required to run an intercollegiate athletic training office," said Mondillo. "The transition will be seamless. I have all the confidence in the world that Kevin and his staff will continue to provide the Griffins with top-notch physical therapy and treatment."

I look forward to another year as a Griffin and to all the success yet to come for our student-athletes." Formerly an assistant athletic trainer, Bernabe joined the Gwynedd Mercy University athletic training staff in the spring of 2024. He most recently fulfilled an immersive clinical experience at the Academy of the New Church and Bryn Athyn College (October 2022 – March 2024) while earning his master's degree (2023) in athletic training from Jefferson University.
In addition to his clinical experience with the Academy of the New Church and Bryn Athyn College, Bernabe also fulfilled similar programs at the University of Delaware (May 2022 – June 2022), Villanova University (March 2022 – April 2022), and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (October 2021 – December 2021), working alongside department administrators to provide high-quality health care for student-athletes at the high school, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, and Division I levels. He also observed rehabilitation and preventative care procedures at Kinetic Physical Therapy (May 2018 – June 2018) and Perkiomen Valley High School (September 2016 – November 2016).

Bernabe earned his bachelor's degree in health science from Jefferson in 2022 with his master's following in 2023. He received his certification for athletic training in February of 2024 and his Pennsylvania State Licensure in April of 2024.
