SAAC Hosts Mr. Griffin Contest After Two Year Hiatus

Gwynedd Valley, Pa – 4/30/2026 – Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted their Mr. Griffin contest for the first time since April 2023, ending the events two year hiatus.

This year the event raised money to help support the future events of the committee. Totaling out at $250 for the evening as the campus community filled the seats, and then some, of the Merck Auditorium to view the chosen contestants in a talent show, a costume contest, a lip sync/dance battle, and a Q&A session.  

The Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics tradition originally dates back to 2010 as the contest sees one student-athlete from each men's sports program compete for the title of "Mr. Griffin" through the evening's events.

This year's program representatives were: 
Colin Stocklin (Baseball) escorted by Rebecca Gordon (Women's Soccer)
Jamar Guada (Track and Field) escorted by Allyssa Seifert (Women's Lacrosse)
Mava Mboko Celestin (Men's Soccer) escorted by Fanta Dukuly (Track and Field)
Caleb Starks (Men's Basketball) escorted by Lexie Kurth (Softball)
And Ethan Galvan (Men's Lacrosse) escorted by Brianna McFadden (Women's Basketball)

The evening was emceed by Gwynedd Mercy University Assistant Professor and Sport Management Program Director Maddie Herman. The campus celebrity judges panel was made up of Head Athletic Trainer Kevin Bernabe, Assistant Athletic Trainer Erika Wible, and Coordinator for Student Engagement Cecily Ritchie.

At the end of the evening's festivities, Jamar Guada representing Track and Field came out on top and took the crown as the new Mr. Griffin on campus for the event's return.
