Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (4/30/2025) – With the close of another scholastic year quickly approaching, it is time to induct another pride of Griffins to
Chi Alpha Sigma; the National College Athlete Honor Society. "This is a prestigious honor for our student-athletes. These individuals have excelled in the classroom, while dedicating themselves to their teams," opened Gwynedd Mercy University Director of Athletics
Keith Mondillo "I'm overjoyed to congratulate these Griffins on their achievement!" In parting, Mondillo added "Our coaches, professors, and advisors are also due a credit for this recognition. They have been there every step of the way to ensure our student-athletes succeed at the highest level."
Chi Alpha Sigma is a nonprofit organization that was established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. The organization was founded in 1996 by then DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis. His goal was to provide outstanding student-athletes with an opportunity to become connected within a fraternal association that aligns their educational and athletic successes for a lifetime.
From this year forward, Chi Alpha Sigma induction requires a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher; in previous editions student-athletes were obligated to maintain at least a 3.4 GPA while receiving their varsity letter. This year's induction class of 16 Griffins combined for a GPA of 3.78!
