Reading, Pa. - (3/22/2025) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-13) looked to put an end to a season-high eight-game losing streak as the Griffins traveled to Penn State Berks (5-8) for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. Game one was a struggle for the Red and Gold's offense as the team only registered three hits in the 3-0 defeat. 5th-year pitcher Jocelyn Baumeister (Willow Grove, Pa.) was dealing in the circle pitching a complete game (6 innings) and only allowing two earned runs on three hits and struck out five in the loss (2-5). In game two, Gwynedd Mercy's offense woke up with two runs in the first inning, but it was not enough as the team lost in a narrow 4-3 defeat. Senior pitcher Emily Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa.) in a complete game loss (0-5) allowed three earned runs and struck out one but did walk five.

- In the first inning, Baumeister hit a tough popup to the shortstop who could not come up with the catch. Both 5th-year outfielder Shylynn Cordero (Allentown, Pa.) and sophomore utility player Hannah Cohen (North Whales, Pa.) hard effort around the bases allowed both to cross the dish and gain a 2-0 lead.
- In the fifth inning down by one 3-2, Cohen came up clutch for the Red and Gold with a run-batted-in (RBI) single to left field with senior outfielder Ally McDaid (Maple Glen, Pa.) crossing home plate and evening the score to 3-3.
Gwynedd Mercy University is back in action Tuesday, March 25 as the team travels to Rutgers-Camden for a non-conference doubleheader matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
