Alumni Spotlight Series by catching up with Gwynedd Mercy University's
Kristin Varilla '24. Through hard work, resilience, and the values they cultivated during their time as student-athletes, these individuals have exemplified the core principles of the AEC and have brought honor to both the conference and their alma maters.
A nursing major, Varilla was a standout attack for the Gwynedd Mercy University women's lacrosse team from 2022 to 2024. In just three seasons in the Red and Gold, Varilla totaled 208 points with 166 goals and 42 assists; she ranks fourth all-time points and goals, and ninth in assists. Varilla is also third all-time in free-position goals (38), as well as tied for second all-time in shots (350) and tied for fourth in game-winning goals (6 GWG). She was a two-time All-AEC Second Team performer, garnering the honor in 2022 and 2023.
In the classroom, Varilla was a three-year member of the AEC All-Academic Team (2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024) and a six-time member of the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Academic Elite (F2021, S2022, F2022, S2023, F2023, S2024). She was named to both the College Sports Communicators (CSC) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Academic All-District At-Large Team and Chi Alpha Sigma; the National College Athlete Honor Society in 2024.
