Aston, Pa. - (5/3/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (13-23, 6-10) opened their final Atlantic East Conference (AEC) series of the 2024 season with this afternoon's 6-2 victory over Neumann University (15-22, 2-14). Senior Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.) struck out six Knights and held them to just two runs on seven hits in his sixth win (6-3) of his senior campaign. Sophomore right fielder Sam Junker (Ambler, Pa.) fueled the line up with a 3-for-3 effort and three runs, while senior left fielder Quin Dye (Conshohocken, Pa.) (1-for-3) and Ebling (1-for-4) cashed in with two runs-batted-in (RBI) apiece.

Griffin Highlights

• Gwynedd Mercy University scored the first run of the contest in the fourth inning. There, Junker was hit by a pitch and freshman shortstop Drew Haines (Hammonton, N.J.) reached on an error before Dye sacrificed himself for the run; 1-0.
• In the second, senior catcher Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.) led off with a double and freshman second baseman Dalton McDonald (Cinnaminson, N.J.) sacrificed him to second base prior to a sacrifice fly from junior right fielder Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.); 2-0.
• Another Griffin run came home in the sixth inning thanks to a lead-off single from Junker. He stole second with two-out and scored on Dye's single to center; 3-0. A wild pitch allowed Dye to score for the fourth Red and Gold run; 4-0.
• Gwynedd Mercy University added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning as Ebling helped himself with a two-run double to right field. Root and Junker scored on the play; 6-0.
• The Knights finally got on the scoreboard with runs in the bottom of the seventh (6-1) and eighth (6-2), but senior Mitchell Bramsway (Temecula, Calif.) ensured the Griffin victory with three strikeouts in the bottom of the ninth.

Gwynedd Mercy University concludes their AEC series with Neumann University and completes their 2024 regular season schedule tomorrow, Saturday, May 4, with a 12:00 p.m. Senior Day doubleheader.
