Radnor, Pa. - (4/5/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (7-12, 2-2) visited Cabrini University (10-8, 2-2) for the first contest of their three-game Atlantic East Conference (AEC) series with the Cavaliers. The Griffins had two hits in the fourth and sixth innings - and seven hits in all - but were unable to score a run against Cabrini University in a 6-0 final. Junior left fielder
Cooper Root (Runnemede, N.J.) had two (2-for-4) of the Red and Gold's hits; he led off the sixth inning with a single to second baseman and singled with two out in the eighth inning.
Griffin Highlights
- Gwynedd Mercy University got back-to-back, two-out singles from sophomore right fielder Sam Junker (Ambler, Pa.) and senior designated hitter Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.). A wild pitch put them both in scoring position, but a grounder to first rendered the Griffin rally fruitless.
- In the sixth inning, Root and junior first baseman Ricky Templeton (West Deptford, N.J.) led off with back-to-back singles. But this time, a fly to left field and an unconventional strike-him-out, throw-him-out left the Red and Gold empty handed again.
- Senior Mitchell Bramsway (Temecula, Calif.) (1-1) pitched two clean innings and struck out three.
- Out of the bullpen, freshman Mateo Arteaga (Levittown, Pa.) (1.0IP, 1H, 1K), freshman Michael Inglisa (Delran, N.J.) (1.0IP, 1H, 1K), and junior Anthony Barbosa (Norristown, Pa.) (1.0IP, 1H, 1BB, 3K) held the Cavaliers scoreless in their final three at-bats.
Gwynedd Mercy University welcomes the Cavalier to Frank O. Genuardi Legends Baseball Field tomorrow, Saturday, April 6, for a 12:00 p.m. AEC doubleheader.
