Gwynedd Mercy University Welcomes Bennett Back As Head Track and Field Coach

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (4/5/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University Director of Athletics Keith Mondillo is pleased to introduce Dylan Bennett as the Griffin's Head Coach for indoor and outdoor men's and women's track and field. "We are very happy to have Coach Bennett back on our staff. He is a outstanding young coach and we fully support his vision for the future of the Gwynedd Mercy University track and field programs." A former assistant to Joe Dare, Coach Bennett returned to Gwynedd Mercy University in April 2023 as the head coach for Griffins' indoor and outdoor track and field teams. In between his terms at Gwynedd Mercy University, Coach Bennett served as the head track and field coach for Methacton High School (Aug. 2020 - Nov. 2021) and an assistant coach at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II, West Chester University (Dec. 2021 - Oct. 2022).

"I am excited to return to Gwynedd Mercy and work with the great student-athletes, staff, and faculty, in hopes of bring future conference championships to the University," said Coach Bennett. "I would like to thank Keith Mondillo and the members of the athletic department who took time to meet with me and discuss the future of Gwynedd Mercy track and field. Additionally, I would also like to thank my friends, family, and former student-athletes for all their support throughout my career." Following graduation from Boyertown High School (2015), Coach Bennett went on to an impressive collegiate career at Alvernia University (2015-2019). Bennett was a three-year (2016-2019) captain for the Golden Wolves and earned both the team' Most Valuable Player (MVP, 2017-2018) and Most Improved Athlete (2017-2018) honors during his stay in Reading, Pennsylvania. He was an eight-time Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) qualifier in the 60-Meter, 100-Meter, 200-Meter, and 60-Meter while garerning All-MAC Third Team honors in the 4x400 (2015-2016, 2018-2019) and 4x200-Meter Relays (2015-2016). Bennett also twice qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships (2015-2016, 2017-2018), earned a 2018-2019 MAC All-Sportsmanship honor, holds the school record in the Sprint Medley Relay and garnered several additional team awards. He graduated from Alvernia University in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in sport management with a minor in political science.

In his first stint at Gwynedd Mercy University, Bennett served as a sprint and jump assistant under Head Coach Joe Dare (2019-2020). The COVID-shortened season saw a Griffin qualify for the NCAA High Jump and six others qualify for sprint and jump events at the ECAC Championships. While at Methacton High School, Coach Bennet produced 26 Pioneer Athletic Conference (PAC) qualifiers with 10 podium placements.
