2023 Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Lacrosse Schedule
Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (1/18/2023) – A month out from welcoming King's College (Pa.) to campus for their season opener, Gwynedd Mercy University Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Shannon Algeo is pleased to release the Griffins 2023 schedule. "We are looking forward to battling old and new competitors this season. We have a challenging non-conference schedule to get the team prepared for highly competitive Atlantic East Conference (AEC) play." Gwynedd Mercy University enjoyed an 8-10 finish in 2022 and served as the #6 seed in the AEC Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament after securing a 16-13 league win over Neumann University (Apr. 15, 2022).

Gwynedd Mercy University opens their 2023 season with the same five opponents that challenged them during a 4-1 start to the 2022 campaign. The initial slate includes home dates with King's College (Feb. 18, 1:00 p.m.) and Alvernia College (Feb. 22, 4:00 p.m.), before sending the Griffins on the road for games at Keystone College (Feb. 25, 2:00 p.m.), Wilkes University (Mar. 1, 4:00 p.m.), and Delaware Valley University (Mar. 4, 1:00 p.m.). Last year, Gwynedd Mercy University enjoyed one-sided wins over the Monarchs (W, 15-4 on Feb. 16, 2022), Giants (W, 19-6 on Feb. 26, 2022), Colonels (W, 21-7 on Mar. 2, 2022), and Aggies (W, 19-5 on Feb. 23, 2022), and a competitive contest with Alvernia University (L, 10-17 on Feb. 19, 2022).

The Griffins' non-conference schedule continues with March contests versus Bryn Mawr College (Mar. 9, 11:00 a.m.) and Bryn Athyn College (Mar. 11, 12:00 p.m.), at Hood College (Mar. 22, 7:00 p.m.), versus Arcadia University (Mar. 25, 12:00 p.m.), and at Ursinus College (Mar. 29, 4:00 p.m.). April brings AEC play, where Gwynedd Mercy University will face their familiar foes in Immaculata University (Apr. 1, 1:00 p.m.), Marymount University (Apr. 5, 4:00 p.m.), Marywood University (Apr. 12, 6:00 p.m.), Neumann University (Apr. 15, 1:00 p.m.), and Cabrini University (Apr. 26, 4:00 p.m.), as well as conference newcomer Centenary University (N.J.).

The #1 Cavaliers won their third straight AEC title in 2022, defeating the #2 Saints by a decisive 19-6 measure. Meanwhile, the Cyclones finished their last season in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) with a 0-6 (1-7 overall) standing. The Griffins were 1-4 against the league with an April-15 home victory over Neumann University. The win earned Gwynedd Mercy University the #6 seed and an AEC Quarterfinal rematch against the Knights. There, the Griffins owned a 3-1 lead before a six-goal run pushed Neumann University to a 7-3 (2:40) first-quarter edge and an eventual 15-11 decision.
