Lancaster, Pa. – (1/17/2023) – Gwynedd Mercy University swept the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Awards as senior guard Elise Sylvester (Pottstown, Pa.) and senior forward Haley Crossley (Philadelphia, Pa.) respectively earning this week's honors. Sylvester piloted the Griffins in a 74-56 league victory over Marywood University with 22 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. She got help on defense from Crossley, who captained the team effort with 12 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals on top of a 15-point performance and five assists.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University (8-8, 1-2) looked to get back into the win column as they played host to Marywood University (11-4, 1-2) in the AEC "Play for Joey" Game. The Griffins were in an offensive groove all game thanks to the point play to Sylvester, who drove and dished all night while matching her career-high for points with a 8-for-19 (.421) shooting performance. Crossley was just as important to the success with her 5-7 rebound split and her impressive two-block, two-steal effort in the Griffin backcourt. Gwynedd Mercy University made the most of their free throw chances with a 16-of-18 (.889) effort and dominated the paint with 40 points to the Pacers' 28.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University continues conference play Wednesday, January 18, when they travel to Neumann University for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
