Hackettstown, N.J. - (2/18/2026) – Gwynedd Mercy University (7-17, 4-9 AEC), looking to keep their playoff hopes alive, traveled to Centenary University (N.J.) (13-11, 6-7 AEC) for a key Atlantic East Conference (AEC) matchup. The Griffins delivered a gritty road performance Wednesday night, leading much of the middle portion of the game, and trading blows deep into the fourth quarter before falling 64-56. Sophomore guard Brianna McFadden (Fairless Hills, Pa.) led all scorers with a standout performance, pouring in 21 points on 8-of-15 (53%) shooting while knocking down four three-pointers (4-of-10, 40%). The 21 points are a new career-high for the sophomore, and she also added seven rebounds throughout the contest. McFadden keyed multiple Griffin runs in both the second and third quarters, helping build the road advantage.
Griffin Highlights:
- After a tight opening quarter, the Griffins found their rhythm in the second period, outscoring Centenary 15–9 to take a 27–23 halftime lead. Gwynedd Mercy's defensive pressure and work on the offensive glass fueled the run, as the Griffins generated second-chance opportunities and limited the Cyclones' efficiency.
- Gwynedd Mercy continued to control the flow coming out of the locker room, matching Centenary 16–16 in the third quarter while maintaining the lead. The Griffins executed well in the half-court and attacked the paint, finishing the night with 24 points in the paint and 15 second-chance points.
- The Griffins also dominated the glass, posting a 54–50 rebounding advantage, led by junior forward Rachel Dunn's (Lansdale, Pa.)10 rebounds and freshman guard Layla Verbit's (Sellersville, Pa.) six boards. Junior forward Azzy Crumpton (Conshohocken, Pa.), senior forward Erin Eisenhart (Bethlehem, Pa.), and sophomore guard Alexis Kanzinger (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) each added seven points, while Eisenhart and Crumpton provided a physical interior presence on both ends.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Griffin Complex for the final time this season, celebrating Senior Day and the season finale, while hosting Saint Elizabeth University on Saturday, February 21, with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
