Kaci Murray (Chalfont, Pa.) (51:09) and supported an early tally (1-0, 8:56) until an insurance score came midway through the fourth quarter (2-0, 55:37) of a 2-0 final.
The University of Scranton (5-0) kept the pressure on the Gwynedd Mercy University (2-4) until a loose ball in the defense was scored to the back of the cage just before the nine-minute mark; 1-0 (8:56). The Griffins had a few pushes through the first three quarters, but offered their best chances following a successful Royal penalty corner early in the fourth quarter; 2-0 (55:37). Thornton got the ball back and fired her shot after a penalty corner input at 50:41. Murray's offering came just 11 seconds later (51:09), but both were denied by the University of Scranton goalkeeper.

Morgan Lawless (Bristol, Pa.) from the Royal advances. Filchner made a defensive save on a third-quarter penalty corner (33:56) and Lawless totaled five saves in the loss (2-4).
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Athletic Complex on Saturday, September 24, when they host Bryn Athyn College for a 12:00 contest.
