Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (3/15/2021) – Student-Athlete mental health is quickly becoming a concern on many collegiate campuses across the country. Often overlooked, student-athletes battle mental health on a daily basis as they attempt to juggle the stresses of sport, school, family, and friends. On Saturday, March 19, the Gwynedd Mercy University women's lacrosse team is partnering with
The Hidden Opponent to help raise awareness about student-athlete mental health. The Griffins will sport green ribbons and collect donations during the 1:00 p.m. contest versus Hood College.
The Hidden Opponent believes that all student-athletes should be able to speak openly about their mental health experiences without worrying about being judged or viewed as weak. They look to bring to light the many issues and struggles that student-athletes face, raising awareness to break the stigma of mental health in athletic culture. The Hidden Opponent offers a safe space for all student-athletes to feel, be heard, supported, and loved.
