ASTON, PA. --Sophomore
Jessica Behr earned her first all-conference honor, garnering a spot in the first team as a total of four Griffins were recognized in the year-end softball awards by the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
Freshman
Alyssa Morales was selected to the second team and
Kim Machalette was an honorable mention pick. Senior
Megan Kelly was named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Behr, who earns her first all-conference nod, is among the top 5 in the CSAC in several categories including RBI's (49), runs (50), hits (59), homeruns (7), and slugging percentage (.803). She has 20 multi-hit and 13 multi-RBI games while adding a 14-game hit streak. She would set personal highs in hits (4) and RBI's (8) in a game this season.
Morales earned a second-team selection at pitcher as she is 13-6 with a team-leading 2.70 ERA and 70 strikeouts with 13 complete games and two shutouts. She also has a save among her 24 appearances this season. She would strike out a season-high 12 and scatter six hits in a 2-0 win at Summit.
Machalette, was the other half of the Griffin's outstanding pitching duo, was chosen for her first all-league honor. She boasts a 13-4 record with a 3.77 ERA with 39 K's and just 17 walks in 98.1 innings pitched. Over the last 34.1 innings, she has not allowed a walk.
The Griffins (26-10, 17-5 CSAC), who have broken the single-season school record for wins in a season, enter the postseason as the #3 playoff seed in the CSAC Tournament. Gwynedd will host #6 Cedar Crest here on Wednesday in a first-round matchup starting at 4 p.m.
