Men's Lacrosse Improves To 3-0 With Win At Arcadia

GLENSIDE, PA. -- A four-goal burst late in the fourth quarter helped Gwynedd Mercy to a 9-7 win at Arcadia on a rainy Wednesday night.

Tied 5-5 heading into the final quarter, the Knights would take a one-goal lead 38 seconds into the period. After three possessions with no success, Gwynedd got a score from freshman Dominic Moscariello (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) with just under seven minutes to play. Junior Tony McCraw (Lawnton, Pa./Central Dauphin East) found paydirt over a minute later and Moscariello again soon after and the Griffins had a 8-6 edge with 4:32 to go.

Sophomore Alfonso Manzo (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern) capped the scoring with a tally with 12 ticks left. Arcadia added one after the ensuing faceoff to account for the final score.

In all, Moscariello, McCraw, Manzo and junior Blase Cesarone (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) each had two goals apiece. Junior Tommy Belmont (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) added a score and an assist.

Senior goalie John Black (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) made 10 saves on the evening. Arcadia's A.J. Beck recorded 13 stops.

Ryan Green, Danny Riley, and Matt Mignogna scored two each respectively for the Knights (1-2).

After two goals each in the first and one in the second, the teams were deadlocked at 3-3 at the half.

The Griffins had 22 of their 40 shots in the second half. Manzo led the team with five groundballs. Senior Reese Lachner (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) had two of the team's 10 caused turnovers, while adding three groundballs of his own.

Gwynedd Mercy is off until Saturday when they head up to Mount Saint Mary for a 1 p.m. start.
