BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy won their CSAC opener in convincing fashion, besting Immaculata, 15-1, Wednesday night.

The Griffins (7-2, 1-0 CSAC), winners of three in a row, played the game in their road dark jerseys .

Senior Nico Belardo (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) tied a program single-game high with eight points on three goals and five assists. Junior Tony McCraw (Lawnton, Pa./Central Dauphin East) added three goals and four helpers. The duo hooked up on four occasions on the night, and twice on the man-up.

Junior Blase Cesarone (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) netted three goals while sophomore Jacob Snavely (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) added a pair as Gwynedd has now won six-straight over the Mighty Macs.

After taking a 2-0 lead midway in the first, Immaculata's Doug Hughes put IU (1-6, 0-1 CSAC) on the board, cutting the deficit in half. However Hughes would be sent off on an unnecessary roughness call minutes later at the 4:39 mark.  42 seconds later, Belardo fed McCraw on a laser shot to help kickstart a four-goal spurt to help GMercyU lead 6-1 after the first.

Junior Tommy Belmont (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and Cesarone added goals in the second as Gwynedd took an 8-1 lead into the break.

Junior Nick Guglielmi (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South), sophomore Alfonso Manzo (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern), and freshman Dominic Moscariello (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) also tallied for the Griffins.

Gwynedd outshot IU, 40-11, including a 25-2 edge in the first half. As a team, the Griffins totaled 10 caused turnovers, the fourth game this season with 10 or more, and won 13-of-20 faceoffs. Sophomore Marc Bushong (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) led GMercyU with nine groundballs and three caused turnovers.

The goalie tandem of senior John Black (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and sophomore Sean Myers (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) combined to make five stops. Immaculata keeper Don Schiffer made 14 saves.

The Griffins continue CSAC play when they travel to Centenary on Saturday in a noon start.
