BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy snapped a three-game winless streak as the Griffins grinded out an 8-6 win over Delaware Valley on Monday afternoon.

Senior Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) paced the Griffins with three goals while freshman Lauren Mitros (Glenside, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) added a pair as Gwynedd, who held a 3-0 lead before three-straight from the Aggies to tie it, improved to 3-3 on the season.

Goals from Yori, Mitros, and freshman Arianna Hensinger (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Camden Catholic) in the first 6:02 of the contest looked as if the Griffins were in for a big day.

The Aggies would stall the Gwynedd offense and score three of their own in the final 4:08 of the stanza, including a tally with 35 seconds left to deadlock the teams at 3-3 at the break.

Taylor Teliszewski would give Delaware Valley (1-5) a lead early in the second half with her second goal of the game. Senior Sarah Lombardi (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) countered with a score minutes later. Back-to-back goals from Mitros and junior Danae Perrymond (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) put GMercyU up 6-4 with nine minutes to play.

Nicollette Angelella, who tallied a game-high four goals for DVC, struck with 8:20 left to pull within one. Yori would connect on a free position shot just over a minute later.
Angelella found paydirt again with 3:13 to go, but again, Yori countered with her unassisted goal on a bounce shot with 2:37 remaining.

Freshman goalie Bria Gillard (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) had six saves, but her stop with 4:41 where she took a point blank shot off her helmet to keep the Aggies off the board. Her counterpart, Sarah Fenwick recorded eight saves for Del Val.

The Griffins outshot the Aggies, 24-17, and had a 34-27 groundball edge. Perrymond and junior Brianna Greer (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) led Gwynedd with six GB's each.
