GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Junior Tony McCraw (Lawnton, Pa./Central Dauphin East) scored three of this five goals in the first quarter and the Griffin defense yielded just two goals to help spark Gwynedd Mercy to an 11-2 win over visiting Delaware Valley Wednesday afternoon.

McCraw would assist on the other goal to lead 4-0 after the first quarter of play.

Junior Blase Cesarone (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) added three scores while Matt Richter (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) poured in two. Richter's first goal capped a first half where the Griffins would lead 6-1 at the break.

The Aggies (3-2), would cut it to 6-2 midway in the third before Gwynedd answered with four unanswered the rest of the quarter for an eight-goal edge after three.

The Griffins led in shots, 45-20, and groundballs, 34-17, while winning 11-of-15 faceoffs. McCraw was a perfect 6-for-6 on draws and led the team with seven groundballs. The team posted 10 caused turnovers, the third game this season with 10 or more.

Senior Nico Belardo (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) dished out a game-high three assists, while Richter, Cesarone, and freshman Dominic Moscariello (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) each had one. Sophomore Alfonso Manzo (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern) also scored for GMercyU.

Senior goalie John Black (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) recorded nine saves while the Aggies' Jacob Tomasik was kept busy, making 20 stops.

Gwynedd Mercy will get back at it on Saturday when they take on DeSales. The game will now be played at Muhlenberg College in a new start time of 7 p.m.
