BOX SCOREGWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Basketball Team picked up their third win in a row in defeating Keystone, 90-79, Wednesday evening at the Griffin Complex.
Junior
Olivia Bradford (Lansdale, Pa./Christopher Dock) flirted with a triple double, tying or setting career highs with 24 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists as the Griffins (12-7, 8-2 CSAC) wore down the Giants in the second half.
Sophomore
Charlotte Kucowski (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) added a personal-best 19 points and also grabbed nine boards. Senior
Natasha Matthews (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) pulled down nine caroms as well. She and fellow senior
Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) each totaled 13 points for Gwynedd, who shot 50% in the second half and used a key 19-4 run in that stanza to open up a double-digit lead.
A tight first half saw no team lead by more than six. Both teams shot just over 33% as the Griffins held a 35-32 lead at the half.
Bradford would come alive in the second, scoring 16 of her 24 points on 6-of-7 shooting. After a Keystone three-pointer to give the Giants a 44-43 lead early on, Gwynedd responded with back-to-back treys from Kucowski and Yori, kickstarting the game-changing run.
Bradford would give GM its biggest lead of the game (80-62) with a three with 4:51 left.
The Giants (9-11, 6-5 CSAC) tried to claw their way back, getting within 88-79 with just over a minute in the game, but GM was able to give Keystone the knockout punch to ice their third-straight win.
Alyssa Cuomo scored 15 points on five three-pointers for Keystone. AAliya Hayes netted 16 off the bench while Cierra Hensley registered 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Both teams finished nearly identical shooting and rebounding-wise, but the Griffins were able to turn 21 Keystone turnovers into 26 points.
Gwynedd Mercy now turns its attention to Saturday where they'll take on Neumann in Aston, Pa. at 2 p.m.
