GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy celebrated Senior Day by defeating Centenary, 17-9, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon.

The Griffins (7-3, 3-0 CSAC) came out firing, totaling 24 shots in the first quarter and adding 18 in the second. A total of six goals were scored in that first stanza, three from sophomore Tony McCraw (Lawnton, Pa./Central Dauphin East).

McCraw along with senior Mason Risner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) would total four goals and an assist apiece. Three other Griffins registered multi-goal totals as the team improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

Steve Orsini led the Cyclones (3-6, 1-1 CSAC) with four goals and two assists.

Gwynedd would lead 9-5 at halftime and 12-7 after the third. The team would total a season-high 66 shots to Centenary's 25.

Sophomores Richard Delea (Hanover, Pa./Southwestern) and Tommy Belmont (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) added three goals each while freshman Alfonso Manzo (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern) tallied twice and junior Nico Belardo (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) also found the back of the net.

McCraw won 19-of-28 faceoffs while totaling a team-high 16 groundballs and five caused turnovers.

Centenary goalie Kevin Switzer saw plenty of action, recording 21 saves. The GM tandem of Ryan Murphy (Audubon, N.J./Methacton) and John Black (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) combined to make nine stops.

Prior to the game, the team and coaching staff honored its three seniors, along with a former player turned coach and their parents: Risner, Anthony Scardina (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough), Mark Vattilana (Wilmington, De./Brandywine) and Liam Malley (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic). Scardina collected four groundballs and caused a turnover while Vattilana added an assist on the day.

Gwynedd Mercy returns to action on Wednesday with a road date at Immaculata in CSAC action starting at 4 p.m.
