2014 CSAC Team Tournament Semifinal
BOX SCOREEASTON, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy's season came to a close as the Griffins were knocked out of the 2014 CSAC Team Tournament as the top-seeded Neumann Knights took a 5-2 decision Friday afternoon.
The Griffins, who clinched a playoff spot as the fourth seed in their final conference match of the season, picked up their two wins at #1 singles by sophomore
Peter Brzezinski (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and #1 doubles with Brzezinski and sophomore
Brandon Rodriguez (Eden, Md./Parkside).
Brzezinski and Rodriguez grinded out a tough 9-8 win in a tiebreak (7-2) in the first doubles, as all three matches were very close. The Knights won 8-5 at #2 and 8-6 at #3 doubles.
Neumann would take wins at #2, #5, and #6 singles as the first team to reach a total of five wins is declared the winner. Brzezinski picked up a straight-set win at #1 singles (6-0, 6-0).
Gwynedd Mercy ends the season with a 4-6 record.
