BOX SCORESCRANTON, PA. -- The Griffins dropped a tough match to the defending conference champion Marywood, 6-3, with the Griffins coming within a single point of making it a 5-4 decision.
At #5 singles, sophomore
Mike Bruce (Blue Mountain, Pa./Blue Mountain) fell in the first set, 6-0. He would battle back to win the second set. In what was one of the biggest battles in conference history, Bruce took it to a third set tie-breaker but lost a tough 13-11 decision. Sophomore
Peter Brzezinski (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), the reigning ECAC Player of the Week, remained undefeated on the year, with 6-2, 6-0 victory at #1 singles.
Brandon Rodriguez (Eden, Md./Parkside) was just as exceptional, once again at #4singles, by the score of 6-1, 6-3.
Alexander Channick (Glenmoore, Pa./Collegium Charter) also scored a point, winning at #2 singles.
The Griffins (3-4, 3-3 CSAC) can clinch a berth in the CSAC Team Championships (four team field) with a win over Immaculata on Wednesday in the regular-season finale.
