(Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and sophomore Tommy Belmont (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) paced the offense with four goals apiece. Junior Nico Belardo (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) added three scores and four assists for a game-high and career-high seven points.

The Gwynedd defense rebounded strongly from a shaky start to keep the Knights scoreless in the entire second half.

C.J. Cardo had two goals to lead Mount Saint Mary (0-2). His first goal came 1:18 into the contest for a quick 1-0 lead. It became 2-0 after Shaun McMahon's unassisted goal eight minutes later. After a GM timeout, the Griffins came out firing, netting four goals in the quarter's final 2:03 to stake a 4-2 edge.

Gwynedd (1-2) would then net the next six, making it nine unanswered goals in all, to increase their lead. Cardo added a man-up goal right before the half, but GM led 9-3 after 30 minutes.

In all, a total of eight different Griffins found the back of the net.

The team was good on 18-of-25 on faceoffs, including 16-of-21 from junior Dillon Cave (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan). GM also converted on 3-of-6 man-up opportunities.

Junior goalie John Black (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) picked up the win, playing into the third quarter and totaling five saves. MSM keeper Connor Haran made 15 saves in three-plus quarters of work.

The Griffins will be right back at it on Wednesday night when they welcome DeSales in a 7 p.m. start.
