GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy ended the regular season by using a big second half to go on and defeat Immaculata, 85-64, on Senior Night.

The Griffins, who celebrated their three seniors on the team prior to the game, erased a 13-point first-half deficit by shooting over 55% in the second. GM (14-11, 11-5 CSAC), who fell into the fifth playoff seed after a Marywood win tonight, will travel up to Scranton to face the Pacers in a CSAC Tournament First-Round on Monday in a 7 p.m. start.

Natasha Matthews (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) scored 15 of her game-high 22 points in the second half as the junior was 7-of-12 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Senior Nicole Dougherty (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland)chipped in 18 points and five assists.

Adriana Sciascia and Sara Smith each had 18 points to lead the Mighty Macs (17-8, 12-4 CSAC) who dropped to a #3 playoff seed.

Immaculata led the entire first half, getting their advantage in double-digits after a Smith bucket on a steal for a 14-3 lead. With just over five minutes to go in the stanza and IU with a 35-22 lead, the Griffins put together a 13-2 run to close out the half to only trail 37-35 at the break. GM would only shoot 8-of-26 (30.8%) in the first 20 minutes, but were able to convert 16-of-21 chances at the charity stripe to keep things close.

Gwynedd took their first and only lead after Dougherty drained the first of her two three-pointers early in the second for a 42-39 score. Later, her second trey followed by a three-point play helped turn a 10-point lead into a 64-48 advantage the Griffins would not release.

The Mighty Macs were held to a 39% (24-of-61) shooting night, after being held to a 10-for-29 (34%) stint in the second. Gwynedd forced 23 turnovers that led to 23 points and won the battle of the boards, 42-30. Senior guard Jordan Dominic (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) grabbed a team-high six, as did Sciascia for IU.

Dougherty, Dominic, and Lauren Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) were honored in a special ceremony before the start of the game to honor the three seniors and their accomplishments.
