Cabrini Ends Win Streak, Griffins Fall At Cavaliers

RADNOR, PA. -- #8 Cabrini defeated Gwynedd-Mercy, 18-6, on Saturday to snap the Griffins' five-game winning streak.

Three of the six GM goals came on the man-up. Seniors Bill Beck (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), and freshman Matt Brasher (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) all tallied man-up goals to increase their team total to a league-leading 21.

Ethan Heisman scored five, Ben Laffoon added three and Corey Elmer contributed two scores and a game-high four assists for the Cavaliers.

Seniors Dustan Mangin (Perkasie, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Mason Risner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and freshman Tony McCraw (Lawnton, Pa./Central Dauphin East) also scored the Griffins.

Cabrini (11-3, 5-0 CSAC) led 6-1 after the first, but Gwynedd (7-5, 5-2 CSAC) kept it close in the second and trailed 8-3 at the half. Goals from Heisman, Elmer, and Laffoon in the first five minutes of the third quarter opened up an eight-goal deficit.

Goalie Ryley O'Keefe (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made 16 saves.

The Griffins will close out the regular season on Thursday night when they host Neumann in CSAC action starting at 7 p.m. With a win, Gwynedd is still in the hunt for a #2 playoff seed and semifinal home game.
