GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy opened their spring portion of their schedule against Division II Cheyney and came away with a 9-0 win over the Wolves on Tuesday.
Senior captain
Chelsea Jones (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) paved the way winning convincingly as did freshman
Zachara Harley (Wyndmoor, Pa./Springfield) in both singles and doubles. The freshmen duo of
Kati Courtney (Bordentown, N.J./Northern Burlington) and
Jenna Caffarello (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) all played well in picking up their first wins of the season. Interestingly enough, sophomore
Dani Horn (Colmar, Pa./North Penn), of the women's lacrosse team, put down her stick and picked up a racquet to help with the shutout.
The Griffins (16-2) return to action on next Saturday, April 13th with a match at Bryn Athyn at noon.
