GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- A few team records were set as Gwynedd-Mercy took out Immaculata, 16-8, for their fourth win in a row.
Senior
Bill Beck (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) had three goals to become the GMC single-season points leader. He currently has 44 points on 31 goals and 13 assists.
Senior
Dustan Mangin (Perkasie, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tied a single-game mark with eight points on three goals and a personal-best five assists. Fellow senior
Mason Risner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) had a personal-best seven-point performance on three goals and four assists.
Finally senior
Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tied a career-high with give goals, which were also a game-high.
Defensively, the Griffins (6-4, 2-1 CSAC) shut the Mighty Macs down in the second half, yielding no goals in the third quarter and just two in the fourth. GM opened the third with three goals in the first five minutes, all coming from Bakeoven. He would cap a three-goal burst late in the period to turn a one-goal deficit at halftime into a commanding 11-6 lead after three.
Bhelly Bagbonon had four goals for IU (2-8, 1-1 CSAC), two of which came late in the first to give the Mighty Macs a 3-1 lead after one. GM would begin the second with a score from sophomore
Nico Belardo (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) and a man-up tally from Bakeoven to lock it up at 3-3. The teams traded goals until Bagbonon struck again late, right before the half to put IU up, 6-5, at the break.
The Griffins pumped out a season-high 53 shots while winning 18-of-28 faceoffs.
Sophomore goalie
Ryan Murphy (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) came on early in the second half and notched three saves to earn his first win of the season. Immaculata keeper Jon Diodati recorded nine stops.
Gwynedd-Mercy travels to Rosemont on Friday for another CSAC matchup in a 4 p.m. start.
