GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Cabrini defeated Gwynedd-Mercy, 20-6, in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

The sixth-ranked Cavaliers scored eight-straight goals to close the third quarter to open up a close contest. Tied 2-2 in the first, Cabrini netted five in a row over an eight-minute span into the second quarter.

Senior Nick Coan (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) had two goals and an assist while sophomore Nathan Pendleton (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added two scores as GM (9-6, 5-2 CSAC) had their five-game win streak snapped.

After Gwynedd cut it to 7-3 at the half, the Griffins got back on the board just 56 seconds into the third on a goal from junior Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan). From there, Cabrini scored six times over the next five minutes of the stanza and would add two more scores in the final minute to take a 15-4 lead going into the fourth.

Brian Hill recorded two goals and four assists for the Cavs, while Bobby Thorp led all scorers with five goals.

Senior Craig Trueblood (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) also tallied for the Griffins who will enter next week's CSAC Tournament as the #3 seed. Bakeoven also chipped in two assists.

On Tuesday, Gwynedd-Mercy will travel to second-seeded Marywood for a CSAC Semifinal contest in a 7 p.m. start.
