Griffins Celebrate Senior Day With Big Win

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Gwynedd-Mercy defeated Rosemont, 28-3, setting game records for most goals scored as the Griffins celebrated Senior Day.

19 different Griffins registered a goal as GM (8-4, 4-1 CSAC) won their fifth game in a row.

Junior Nathan Pendleton (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) paced the offense with four goals. Seniors Ben Brown (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), Nick Coan (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley), Stefan Hetland (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley), along with junior Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), sophomore Anthony Scardina (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and freshman Nico Belardo (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) added two scores apiece.

Gwynedd held a 35-21 groundball edge while outshooting the Ravens, 54-12.

Dean Grisoff netted all three goals for Rosemont (0-10, 0-4 CSAC), in its first season of lacrosse.

Prior to the game, Brown, Coan, Hetland, along with Zach Richter (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown), Craig Trueblood (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg), Ryan Bracalenti (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley), Corey Lutts (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Roman Catholic), Jon-Eric Lane (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), and Michael Henry (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) all were honored in a pregame ceremony. The nine seniors were the first recruiting class in the program's short history and helped lay the foundation of the Griffin Men's Lacrosse Team for years to come.

The Griffins will play at Immaculata next Saturday in 3 p.m. start. With a win, GM can clinch a playoff spot.
