Gwynedd-Mercy 7, Arcadia 2

GLENSIDE, PA. -- The Gwynedd-Mercy College Women's Tennis Team, picked up right where they left off in the Fall with a 7-2 win at Arcadia.

While all the players did well, the Griffins were without one of their veteran players, as senior Jessica Scarpello (Haddon Twp, N.J./Haddon Twp.) was out due to injury. With everyone having to play a slot above their normal position, the Griffins had to juggle their lineup.

Freshman Caroline Lockwood (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley North), came through in both singles and doubles, gaining two key points for the Griffins. Junior captain Chelsea Jones (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) took out a very strong opponent at the 4th singles spot. Sophomore Kellie Booth (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) came through in the clutch, defeating her opponent at 6th singles. Booth also won in doubles, further reinforcing that the depth of the GMC squad that really pays dividends.
