CENTER VALLEY, PA. – Gwynedd-Mercy held DeSales to one second-half goal and a key penalty kill in the third quarter helped propel the Griffins to an 11-5 win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Senior Craig Trueblood (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) stayed hot, scoring a game-high four goals. Senior Nick Coan (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) and junior Dustan Mangin (Perkasie, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added a score and three assists each.

Gwynedd converted on penalties in the first quarter, netting three man-up goals to jump out to a 4-1 lead after one.

The Griffins (3-2) added four more in the second, including the first career tally for senior Mike Henry (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) right before the half to put GM up 8-4 at the break.

In the third quarter, Gwynedd found themselves with three penalties putting them at a major disadvantage, and later a penalty on goalie Ryley O'Keefe (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) put John Black (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) in net where the freshman made three big saves in the final 4:20 of the quarter to keep DeSales off the board.

Trueblood struck twice and Coan added his tally of the day in the fourth to pull away for their fourth win on the year.

O'Keefe finished with nine saves in goal. DSU goalie Jake Ross recorded 12.

Jarrod Wiedow had two goals for the Bulldogs (2-3).

The Griffins welcome Marywood on Saturday at 1 p.m. in their first CSAC contest of the year.
