LANCASTER, PA. -- Franklin & Marshall handed Gwynedd-Mercy a 15-7 defeat in the season opener for the Griffins on Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Nathan Pendleton (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had two goals for GM while Mason Risner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) added a goal and an assist. Senior Nick Coan (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) added a pair of assists.

Tristan Miller netted four tallies for the Diplomats (2-1) who broke open a 3-3 game in the second quarter with five-straight goals to lead 8-3 at the half.

Gwynedd was 3-for-5 in the man-up category as senior Craig Trueblood (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg), junior Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and freshman Nico Belardo (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) tallied man-up goals.

F&M outshot the Griffins, 42-21, but GM collected 27 groundballs.

Junior goalie Ryley O'Keefe (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made 10 saves in goal.

The Griffins return to action on Saturday as they host Catholic in the home opener starting at 1 p.m.
