GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy held Immaculata to two second-half goals to go on and defeat the Mighty Macs in a 12-5 Colonial States Athletic Conference win on Saturday.
Freshman
Liam Malley (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) paced GM (5-6, 3-1 CSAC) with a game-high four goals, three of which came in the fourth quarter alone. Junior
Nick Coan (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) added two more as the Griffins broke open a 4-3 game in the second with six-straight scores into the fourth.
Sophomore
Alexander Estrin (Greenville, S.C./Riverside) added a pair of tallies while junior
Stefan Hetland (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley), and
Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and
William Beck (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) also recorded goals for Gwynedd.
Dante Tuscai registered two goals and an assist for IU (4-6, 1-2 CSAC) while Ben Tuscai added four assists and a goal.
The Griffins led 2-1 after the first and after the teams traded a goal early in the second, GM scored six in a row over a period and a half. Malley's score at the 12:15 mark of the fourth gave Gwynedd a commanding 9-3 lead.
Sophomore goalie
Ryley O'Keefe (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made six saves to improve to 2-0 in league play.
Gwynedd plays at Marywood next Saturday at 7 p.m. With a win, the Griffins can clinch a playoff spot for the third-straight season.
