GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Sophomore Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) scored four goals and freshman Liam Malley (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) added three to help Gwynedd-Mercy to a 13-6 Colonial States Athletic Conference win over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.

Junior Stefan Hetland (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) added two scores while Nick Coan (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) dished out four assists as the Griffins improve to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in league play.

First-quarter goals from Bakeoven, Malley, and sophomore William Beck (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) staked the Griffins to a 3-0 lead. Down 5-0 in the second, the Hornets got on the board as Sean Mack netted one of the four man-up goals on the day for Shenandoah. SU would add another score before halftime to make it a 5-2 game after 30 minutes of play.

The Griffins would then pull away in the third, outscoring the Hornets, 5-0.

Goalie Ryley O'Keefe (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made seven saves, including five in the fourth.

Gwynedd led in almost every statistical category, holding a shooting edge of 42-28, securing 33 groundballs to SU's 15, and winning 16-of-22 faceoffs.

Mac Hedrick had two goals and an assist for Shenandoah (0-9, 0-2 CSAC).

Junior Craig Trueblood (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) and freshman Nathan Pendleton (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) also netted goals for Gwynedd.

GM will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Cabrini for a CSAC tilt beginning at 3:30 p.m.
