SCRANTON, PA. -- Gwynedd-Mercy suffered a 10-7 Colonial States Athletic Conference loss at Marywood on Saturday.
The Griffins (5-7, 3-2 CSAC) were outscored 4-0 in a crucial stretch in the fourth quarter after trailing by just one goal.
Sophomore
Dustin Mangin (Perkasie, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and
Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) each netted three goals. Two of the three scores from Bakeoven were man-up.
Mangin made it 1-0 just 2:17 into the contest, but the Pacers (9-3, 4-0 CSAC) answered with five-straight goals to lead 5-1 into the second quarter. GM cut it to 5-3 at the half after a tally from Mangin with eight seconds left in the stanza.
Freshman
Nathan Pendleton (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) scored the other goal for Gwynedd.
The Griffins outshot, Marywood, 37-32 and had a 35-34 groundball edge. The Pacers though, would win 13 of 20 faceoffs.
George Downey IV led the Pacers with three goals. His third score at the 13:19 mark of the fourth was the first of four-straight to turn a one-goal lead into a 10-5 edge.
Gwynedd will take on Hood in a rescheduled game from February on Tuesday, April 19th at 3:30 p.m.
