Griffins Grind Out First CSAC Win, Defeat Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -- Three goals from junior Craig Trueblood (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) helped Gwynedd-Mercy secure their first league win in an 8-6 road CSAC win at Centenary on Thursday.

The Griffins (3-5, 1-0 CSAC) were able to break a 5-5 tie early in the fourth quarter after leading 3-2 at halftime.

Juniors Stefan Hetland (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley), Nick Coan (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley), NIck Hummel (Verona, Wis./Middleton), sophomore Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), and freshman Liam Malley (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) also tallied for Gwynedd.

GM outshot the Cyclones (4-2, 0-1 CSAC), 42-20.

Conor Nolan had two scores and two assists for Centenary.

Goalie Rich Zagari (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) made five saves in picking up his second win on the year.

Gwynedd will get right back at it on Saturday when they host Shenandoah in CSAC action starting at 1 p.m.
