SCRANTON, PA. -- Down 4-0 after the first quarter, Gwynedd-Mercy rallied for 9-7 win at Marywood on Tuesday in semifinal action to advance to the CSAC title game.

The Griffins (10-4) held the Pacers to just two second-half goals including none in a pivotal fourth quarter. GM scored two key man-up goals in the last quarter, the last coming from Dustin Mangin (Perkasie, Pa./Archbishop Wood) with 1:30 in regulation, giving Gwynedd its first lead of the contest.

Two goals from freshman Roy Bakeoven (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) to close the second quater put the score at 5-4 Pacers at the half.
Trailing 7-5 going into the fourth, the Griffins cut it to a one-goal deficit with a tally from sophomore Jonathan Schmitt (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington) midway through the quarter. But after the goal, Marywood was called for a one-minute penalty, and GM cashed in as sophomore Nick Hummel (Verona, Wisc./Middleton) netted a man-up goal to knot things up at 7-7. Hummel would later add another goal in the closing seconds to help seal the win.
Bakeoven and Hummel led GM with two scores apiece. Mangin, Matt Houk (Vienna, Va./Bishop O'Connell), Stefan Hetland (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley), and Craig Trueblood (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) each had a goal and an assist.
Goalie Rich Zagari (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) recorded nine saves on the day, including three big stops in the final quarter.
GM outshot Marywood, 32-23, including a 16-10 second-half effort.
