ALLENTOWN, PA. -- The Gwynedd-Mercy College Women's Tennis Team captured its third-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference Team Title as the Griffins defeated Cabrini, 5-0, in the finals Saturday evening.

With the win, the Griffins claim the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Team Tournament which takes place in May. The Griffins have finished 10-0 in conference play the last three seasons and have not lost a league match since September 22, 2007 against Cabrini.

Gwynedd started off the match by winning both doubles. The #2 team of Heather Morgan (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) and Rachel Fein (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) easliy won, 8-0, but the duo of Chelsea Donde (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) and Jess Scarpello (Haddon Twp., N.J./Haddon Twp.) grinded out a tough 9-8 (8-6) victory at #1 to seize an early lead. GM won the #3 doubles by default.

With three doubles win and a default win at #6 singles, the Griffins needed just one win during the singles sessions to wrap it up. Morgan would end things as she closed out the Cavaliers' Victoria Nastala, 6-2, 6-2.

The Griffins (14-2) will await word on its NCAA Tournament opponent and location in late April 2011.
