Pugh Named AEC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week, Gaston Milestone Recognized on Weekly Honor Roll

Lancaster, Pa. – (11/10/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior middle hitter Charlotte Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa.) received an exclamation point on the final week of her collegiate career as the Griffin captain was named the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for her play in a 2-1 finale that included league wins over Pratt University (W, 3-0; 25-23, 25-20, 25-19 on Nov. 5) and Immaculata University (W, 3-0; 25-6, 25-14, 25-21 on Nov. 8). She was joined on the report by fellow senior captain, setter Ayanna Gaston (Middletown, Del.), who garnered Weekly Honor Roll recognition for her run to Red and Gold career records.

Opposite Pugh, the AEC Women’s Volleyball Specialist of the Week award went to Marywood University freshman setter Ayla Bransford (Colorado Springs, Colo.). Gaston was joined on the Weekly Honor Roll by Immaculata University senior middle hitter Mia Esposito (Havertown, Pa.), Marymount University senior setter Johanna Modica (Livermore, Calif.), and Saint Elizbeth University sophomore defensive specialist Alyssa Wells (Castle Rock, Colo.).

Gwynedd Mercy University played some of their best volleyball in the final week of the 2025 season, landing them league wins over the Cannoneers and Mighty Macs. Pugh was a major contributor to the success with 46 kills on a .208 (46K-20E-125TA) hitting percentage, three assists, four aces, two block assists, and 34 digs. She opened the week matching her season-high in kills with 17 at Pratt Institute; Pugh hit .394 (17K-4E-33TA) in the match while also recording two aces, a block assist, and eight digs. The performance was followed by a 14.5-point (14 kills, 1 block assist) effort against the Greyhounds and a 17.0-point (15 kills, 2 aces) act against the Mighty Macs; she complimented the first with a team-high 19 digs and achieved the second with the aid of a .200 (15K-7E-40TA) hitting percentage.

This week, Gaston totaled 96 assists and five aces en route to program records in both categories. She achieved both milestones in the season finale with Immaculata University; stacking up 10 assists in the first frame to surpass Kandace Pickeral ’08 (2,622 assists (308 sets)) for the Griffins’ all-time assists mark and scoring the only ace she needed in the third set to surpass Hillary Tubbs ’06 (190 aces (365 sets)) for the program’s all-time service mark. Gaston’s 29 assists against the Mighty Macs left her career total – and new Red and Gold record - at 2,644. She also recorded eight kills, two block assists, and 17 digs over the final three matches of the season.
