Avellino and Gordon Garner AEC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll Recognition
 
Lancaster, Pa. – (4/14/2025) – Gwynedd Mercy University senior midfielder Cheyenne Avellino (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Rebecca Gordon (Sicklerville, N.J.) both garnered recognition on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll for their contributions to a 17-8 win at Immaculata University (Apr. 9) and a 19-8 loss versus Neumann University (Apr. 12). Avellino recorded four goals, two assists, 14 shots, 14 ground balls, six caused turnovers, and eight draws between the two AEC games. Meanwhile, Gordon totaled 10 goals, one assist, 18 shots, five ground balls, two caused turnovers, and five draws.
 
Marymount University graduate midfielder Bailey Gehler (San Diego, Calif.) was named the AEC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, while the AEC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week title went to Marywood University junior midfielder Kaitlyn Smith (Merrick, N.Y.). Avellino and Gordon were joined on the AEC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll by Immaculata University fifth-year midfielder Jacki Murray (Malvern, Pa.), Marywood University junior attack Natalie Yilanjian (Sellersville, Pa.), Immaculata University freshman defender Addison Yackel (Maple Shade, N.J.), Marymount University senior goalkeeper Hannah Smith (Wilmington, N.C.), as well as Neumann University graduate midfielder Lindsey Fagan (Norwood, Pa.) and graduate goalkeeper Abbey Fenton (Marmora, N.J.).
 
Gwynedd Mercy University (4-11, 2-1) improved to 2-0 in AEC play with Wednesday’s 17-8 triumph over Immaculata University (2-12, 0-2). The Griffins carried a 5-2 lead into intermission thanks to a 4-0 second-quarter spread. Following a 5-5 third quarter a 7-1 fourth quarter gave the Red and Gold plenty of breathing space. Avellino recorded four goals, one assist, eight shots, ten ground balls, four caused turnovers, and three draw controls, while Gordon cashed in seven goals on 12 shots. She also totaled three ground balls, one caused turnover, and three draw controls.

After celebrating the collegiate careers of Avellino and fellow seniors Alysia Collins (Royersford, Pa.), Hailey Bloom (Margate City, N.J.), and Maddie Jeter (Bensalem, Pa.), Gwynedd Mercy University battled Neumann University (7-8, 2-1) to a 19-8 conclusion. In the loss, Avellino recorded an assist, six shots, four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and five draw controls. Meanwhile, Gordon totaled three goals, one assist, six shots, and two draw controls.
 
Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, April 15, when they host Marywood Pacers for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
