Bloom and DeSimone Draw AEC Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll Recognition

Sebastian DeSimone (West Orange, N.J.) and senior
Hailey Bloom (Margate City, N.J.) were respectively recognized on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC)
Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll for their performance during the opening weekend of competition. Marywood University junior Bryce Ryder (Lewisburg, Pa.) was honored as the league’s Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, while Marymount University sophomore Brier Amerlinck (East Amherst, N.Y.) garnered the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week title.
The Gwynedd Mercy University men's and women's cross country teams visited Rose Tree Park in Media, Pennsylvania, on Friday, August 30, for the Bryn Mawr College Invitational. There, the Griffin men recorded no team score with only DeSimone toeing the starting line; he finished 25
th with a five-kilometer (5K) time of 19:33.50. Meanwhile, Top-50 5K’s from Bloom (40
th, 26:27.00), freshman
Ava Ezzie (Drexel Hill, Pa.) (42
nd, 27:08.40), and senior
Mikayla Brennan (Bensalem, Pa.) (43
rd, 27:36.40) placed the women seventh (7th of 7) with 174 points.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action next Saturday, September 7, when they visit local rivals at Belmont Plateau for Jefferson University's Philadelphia Cross Classic.
