Gablein Returns to AEC Weekly Report with Honor Roll Appearance

Lancaster, Pa. – (9/26/2023) – Gwynedd Mercy University sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Gablein (Philadelphia, Pa.) made her second appearance of the season on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Soccer Weekly Report, this time garnering an Honor Roll appearance with a 1-0-1 record and eight saves in contests versus Clarks Summit University (W, 4-0 on Sept. 18) and Cairn University (T, 1-1 on Sept. 22). Immaculata University junior Kelsey Cardarelli (Elkton, Md.) was named the Player of the Week, Neumann University sophomore Alexis Navarro (Valley Stream, N.Y.) earned the Defensive Player of the Week award, while Gablein was joined on the Honor Roll by Immaculata University sophomore Samantha Seidito (Staten Island, N.Y.), Marywood University junior Riley Mulherin (Clarks Summit, Pa.), and Centenary University (NJ) sophomore Liliana Flores (Dover, N.J.).

Gwynedd Mercy University (4-3-1) made its way back into the win column with Monday night’s 4-0 victory over Clarks Summit University (0-2). Freshman forward Ksenia Semenovykh (Warrington, Pa.) finished the game with two goals on eight shots, while Gablein earned her third win of the season with a pair of saves in the opening 45:00. The Griffins dominated the affair with a 39-15 shot advantage and a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.

After a day off in Gwynedd Mercy University’s 7-0 victory at the University of Valley Forge (Sept. 20), Gablein got the start in the Griffins’ Friday-night meeting with Cairn University. She made six first-half saves to keep Gwynedd Mercy University even with the Highlanders despite a 10-5 shot deficit and a 3-1 corner kick shortage. Fortunately, sophomore captain Bethany Beinlich (Forksville, Pa.) gave the Griffins the advantage with her goal in the 75th minute (1-0, 74:54) as Cairn University evened the score with a tally at the 86th-minute mark (1-1, 86:00).

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action tomorrow, Wednesday, September 27, when they host Wilson College for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
