Bramsway and Collins Garner AEC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll Recognition
Lancaster, Pa. – (3/20/2023) – Gwynedd Mercy University junior pitcher
Mitchell Bramsway (Temecula, Calif.) and graduate infielder/pitcher
Billy Collins (Hatfield, Pa.) earned
Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Baseball Weekly Honor Roll recognition for their performances in a 3-1 week that included victories over the University of Valley Forge (W, 8-5 on Mar. 15) and Penn State Brandywine (W, 9-2 on Mar. 17/W, 9-4 on Mar. 18). Bramsway allowed only two hits and a walk while earning a win and striking out eight opponents in 3.2 innings (2 appearances) of scoreless relief. Meanwhile, Collins posted a .400/.550/.933 (AVG/OBP/SLG) slash line that produced four runs and a dozen (12) runs-batted-in (RBI) in addition to a start in a 11-7 loss (L, 3.0 IP, 3H, 0ER, 3BB, K on Mar. 18) to the Nittany Lions.

After a postponement of Tuesday’s (Mar. 14) game at Penn State Abington, Gwynedd Mercy University (8-5) played a pair of neutral site games at the Maplezone Sports Institute in Aston, Pennsylvania, opposite the University of Valley Forge (5-5) and Penn State Brandywine (6-7). Against the Patriots, the score was tied a 5-5 before the Griffins scored three nine-inning runs with a timely RBI single from senior infielder
Noah Andress (Levittown, Pa.) and an error by the Patriots' shortstop that allowed two more runs to cross in an 8-5 victory. Bramsway was the benefactor of the late runs, earning his second win (2-0) of the young season with four strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work. Meanwhile, Collins was 2-for-5 at the dish with a walk and three RBI.
The second game at the Maplezone Sports Institute was the first of three games between the Griffins and the Nittany Lions of Brandywine. Gwynedd Mercy University took the lead with a three-run sixth inning and sealed a victory with a five-run ninth. Collins was 2-for-3 in the contest with an RBI-single in the first inning and was the game-tying run in the sixth inning. Collins continued to provide clutch at-bats in the Saturday doubleheader split with Penn State Brandywine. He homered in both contests, connecting on a three-run shot in the seventh inning of the 11-7 loss and crushing a grand slam in the fifth inning of a 9-4 win. Bramsway insured the victory with four strikeouts in two innings of scoreless relief (2.0 IP, 1H, 4K). Collins was 4-for-10 with four walks, three runs, and nine RBI in the three-game series.
Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Tuesday, March 21, when they travel to Rosemont College for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
